Introduction
August Pulst School is a branch of the NGO Estonian Traditional Music Centre and organises traditional music courses, circles and instrument classes. Our main activiteis are carried out at the Traditional Music Centre in Viljandi. Our target group consists of both advanced learners and complete beginners of all ages. For the school year 2008/2009, August Pulst School offers:
- Open sessions: dance, singing, instrumental sessions for everyone interested and separate music sessions for preschool children and their parents at the Traditional Music Centre.
- Instrument lessons: for beginners and advanced learners, for learners with and without own instruments, for learners of all ages.
- Courses: advanced workshops and courses, Estonian Ethno, master classes with both Estonian and other countries' traditional music.
- Music teachers' course: introduction course in traditional music in cooperation with Estonian Society for Music Education
- School concerts: three different programmes (traditional instruments, calendar songs and story-telling) that present Estonian traditional music and culture for school children both at school and at the Traditional Music Centre
For 2008, August Pulst School has received financial support from Hasartmängumaksu Nõukogu, Estonian Ministry of Education and Research, European Social Fond and Nordic Culture Fond.
