J.L. Borges, an Argentinean writer and philosopher has said, "The tango can be debated, and we have debates over it, but it still encloses, as does all that which is truthful, a secret."
Performers:
The Argentinean tango is often associated with something very passionate and dramatic. That may be so but there is definitely more to it. Genuine tango hides in itself passion which is not always about hot-tempered love but can sometimes also represent an indefinable high. The passion in tango becomes apparent in time and time is what gives it its sensuality, which is full on melancholic undertones and yearning. The sounds of Gabriel Merlino's bandoneón and Vanina Tagini's voice bring the Argentinean tango in its most genuine form to the audience. Gabriel Merlino started learning the bandoneón when he was 8 years old and he is now one of the most valued musicians of the so-called new generation in Buenos Aires. He is valued as a professional music, composer, and a teacher. Vanina Tagini is the grandchild of the legendary tango singer and poet Armando Tagini. Even though she has been singing since her childhood, she started singing tango only when she was 18. According to Vanina, she felt an extraordinary respect towards tango because singing it is not only about your technical skills. Today, Vanina Tagini's name is known in all of the largest tango lounges.
During the concert, they will play songs from both the older and newer era of tango, including works by Anibal Troilo, Rosita Melo, Luicio Demare, Astor Piazzolla and Gabriel Merlino.
