OurCulture Academy - Voldemar Kolga

22.05.2012

Beginning: 18.00
Venue: Chamber Hall of the Traditional Music Center
Free entry for all!

OurCulture Academy introduces and develops Estonian cultural thought. The lectures focus on the bearer of culture and the environment around it. The aim of the lecture series is to promote local identities and sustainable development. Throughout the season, OurCulture Academy meetings, which take place in the Estonian Traditional Music Center, introduce remarkable people who are in one way or another related to the traditional culture.
The theme of the 2011/2012 season is "Everyday Academy". Everyday begins, are you ready? The joy and bore of everyday. Habits and routine, subsistence and self-help. Everyday aesthetics.

Voldemar Kolga
"The World and I"

It is hard to predict everything going on in the world. Uncertainty has increased, belief in progress is decreasing, new technologies determine human behaviour. The individual idea of "me" is becoming less stable, life is becoming project-based, fragmentary and erratic. The pursuits for oneself are becoming overwhelming. The greatest challenge of the 21st century is becoming tolerant of diversity. In the last lecture of the OurCulture Academy season, the psychologist and professor Voldemar Kolga talks about how the world has changed and how it has influenced the perception of "me".

After the lecture, Kairi Leivo hosts an overview colloquium which summarises the season 2011-2012.
Recording the lectures without prior permission is not allowed.
